So we’re on our second year of participating in a CSA. We tried a smaller shop this time, Local Motive Farms in Coldstream, NS. They’ve repeatedly supplied us nice hauls. Lots of greens, turnips, garlic scapes and even horseradish!
How do you pair a seafood dish with the right wine? We got the scoop from sommelier Mark DeWolf.
Local chicken is getting expensive. Once an affordable staple, I fear our ubiquitous bird friend is becoming a delicacy when you go the eco-friendly route. In a year or two I’ll have to reserve dear old poulet for special occasions I do with lobsters, black truffles and caviar.
When the Valley gang gets together it can usually be summarized in a word –excess. It encapsulates everything. The prime examples being food, booze, entertainment, insults, sloth and gas. After a round of applause to end each trip, we march on to the next, doomed to repeat ourselves.
