So we’re on our second year of participating in a CSA. We tried a smaller shop this time, Local Motive Farms in Coldstream, NS. They’ve repeatedly supplied us nice hauls. Lots of greens, turnips, garlic scapes and even horseradish!
Local chicken is getting expensive. Once an affordable staple, I fear our ubiquitous bird friend is becoming a delicacy when you go the eco-friendly route. In a year or two I’ll have to reserve dear old poulet for special occasions I do with lobsters, black truffles and caviar.
It’s National Hoagie Day! If you haven’t had the pleasure, a Hoagie is a sandwich full of cured meats, cheese, vegetables and a light dressing packed into long crusty bread. Pure heaven. May 4th could become my favourite culinary day of the year.
We’re so damn healthy. Check this out. Hour after hour we sit, iPads in hand while watching TV, planning out all sorts of ways to stay in top shape. Even in the morning, sleeping in, we work hard at preparing ourselves to tackle the next meal. If we had a personal trainer, I know they would love our dedication.
